4X4 Problems

When i put my truck into 4WD, it jumps in and out of engagement, I want to say on the Hub end. Now i'll be the 1st to admit that i'm not very fond of auto-lock hubs at all, and dont know much about them. (before on my fullsize trucks, i would just swap them out for manual engage) But it seems as if i cannot find an aftermarket kit to make these hubs into manual lock. Am i stuck with the autolocks? and if i am, has anyone had a similar experince with the 4WD seeming like its falling in and out of 4WD?
Its a 1990 S-10 blazer, with a 4.3 and a auto trans.

Thoughts anyone?

The front axle engagement does not happen at the hubs like the older solid front axle trucks. It happens inside the front diff.

I would suspect you have a problem with either the vacuum supply to the front axle actuator (located on your passenger fender), a problem with the actuator itself, or a problem with the cable sticking and not fully locking in the front axle.

You can make yourself up a home made posi-lock setup:

How-to: Homemade posi-lock cable system <-- Much cheaper alternative.

Does that Homemade kit still apply if its not a pushbutton engage? I got ye 'ole stick in the floorboard.
