'94 Noises? (Any known common problems with the body, suspension, front end)

I'm trying not to make this a "My truck's making noises, what is it?" thread… but my truck's making noises, what is it? :icon_couchhide:

I've had a "clunking" noise when I hit bumps etc. for a about a year now, getting progressively worse. I've never been able to narrow it down to where it's coming from. I thought it was front end, I thought it might be motor mounts but I've never had any luck finding it, and there's no way to replicate it other than by driving. :icon_shrug: It's more annoying than anything else, not a "oh my God something's about to fall off" sound.

So I figure these trucks have lots of known common ailments…. are there any common quirks with the suspension, drivetrain etc. that would cause this? One of those "Oh yeah that happens with all of them" type deals I haven't come across online? :icon_emm:

Most likely going to be torsion bar mounts.

Thanks! Now that I know what to look for (online), everything I've read seems to agree with you. When the weather plays along I'll take a look under the truck. Thanks again.

So, it's supposed to rain in the morning and keep at it for 3 days. Laying in bed wondering… it's driving me crazy, I can't wait till the end of the week to know if that's what it is or not. :icon_hyper: So I get out of bed and get dressed and go out in the driveway with a flashlight and lay under the truck at 2:15 AM. LMAO

"Unfortunately" I can't get even the slightest wiggle out of the crossmember so I don't see how it can be the mounts. I'm bummed. Not that I WANTED to change them, but at least it was doable and finally something definitive. :(

To revisit this and clarify… If the torsion bar mounts were broke, I should me able to raise the cross member a little correct?

I assumed this meant by hand, rather than with a jack, but I figured I'd better double check. ?

If you wanna be cheap like me,buy some chain and chain them down. I did it last year. No more issues.

Or buy em right lol. The driver side can be a original. the passenger side needs to be the new "improved" style. they have a shorter head. You will see what i mean when you order them. the passenger side wont raise high enough for the original ones to fit. the new ones had 3 bolts(shorter head) instead of 2 bolts 1 nut. (longer head)
