axle ratios - 1994 - S10 Blazer 4x4 4.3 litre

I know even more now:

RPO says - ratio 3.42.

I had to check on my rear axle shafts as I had too much axial clearance. Found that in the differential the clearance between the C-lock and the button end of the axle shaft holding the axle into the differential.

Still wondering. It looks to me as it is not possible to identify an axle from outside then???

Only thing I found are the cast numbers on the diff-casing itself. No dealer over here was able to help. But this forum was - thanks for the RPO translater and the list.

Found a Blazer 1992 for less than 3'300 $ with less than 75k on odo. I'll think I go for it as it is just rusty if everything is working fine this is worth the effort and interior trim is almost looking brand new. This might be my project then for the winter and spring.

If all you need is an axle shaft, then it doesn't really matter what you're gear ratio is. You just need a 28 spline axle shaft for a 7.625 4wd rear.
You can try junkyards, but most of them won't break down a complete rear. They just want to sell the whole thing.
For new, you can get replacement kits that include bearings/seals from rockauto.com and Summitracing.

If you have the diff cover off (which I assume you do as you list the number off of the ring gear), then you can just count the number of teeth on the ring and pinion gears. The gear ratio is the ring gear teeth divided by the pinion gear teeth.
