body off frame
 

Is it hard to lift the body off the frame? I would like to do full restoration on the frame. Just wondering what it would take?? Anyone done that to their blazer..?

I have a 91 s10 blazer!

i have a body lift so the job is similar.
the two things that will give you trouble are the body mount bolts and wiring/brake fuel lines snagging.

if you take your time it shouldnt be too bad....i would find the performance accessories bodylift pdf file and take a look. that should point out all the things you need to find to the the body off frame a little bit.

Only thing a body lift and full frame off resto have in common is undoing the body bolts. There is a ton of little things to unhook unlike a body lift to get the frame out. Steering, electrical, and gas filler pops in my head right off the bat. But I do agree on first gens the body bolts like to rust in place and almost always give ya problems.

A blazer body isn't light so I hope ya got a good plan on lifting it and supporting it. We used a front bucket on a tractor and it almost wasn't big enough.

yes i agree, the bodylift work is lite compared to full frame off...but i figured it would give him an idea as to what to look for.....also he may be able to lift the frame enough just to clean it up...now if your doing a full off frame then that is a huge job.

In this Country every car rust and I would like to keep a car like this for a while. In a few years you want see many of these left, as they have just been used up and rusted to death (at least back here). I have always wanted to own one so I finally have this old rust bucket.

So yes I would like to do a full fram off! Long term goal is to take all rust and repaint the frame, change about every other part under it, when I have the body off and then work my way up... Want this to be a good car for many years to come...:icon_steer:

Good call on the weight on the body, must figure out a good way to lift that off and something stable to put it on.. A tractor should be possible to get for help, but need some ideas for body storage..!?
