A/C compressor into air compressor
i was wondering if anyone had ever turned their A/C compressor into an on-board air compressor. My A/C will not hold a charge and i dont really care too much about it. i figured i would try and make use of it since it is already there. i am planning on having an air tank mounted in the back to keep the pressure somewhat steady but wasnt sure exactly how to connect things up front. any help is appreciated.

It is possible. I have looked into doing it but decided against it. Do a google search and you should be able to find some more info on it. The reason I decided not to do it was because of the cost of all the parts needed to do it. A few things you would need are check valves, pressure release valves, intake filter. Along with some kind of oiler otherwise the compressor wont last long. Most people that do this get an old your compressor since it puts out a high volume of air and you can run air tools off it. I just bought a good 2 cylinder compressor that I use and it works fine. It all depends on what you plan on using it for.
