code 44. Lean. oh yay.
popped up today on the way to the store. Truck runs great. doesnt miss a beat,no loss of power. just the annoying lights on now.
I tested the temp sensor while hot. tested at 276 ohms. Im running a 180 stat.
Only thing i done was advance the timing by ear a few degrees. but that was like 2 weeks ago. if it would of affected it,it should of by now.

whats up with everyone and advancing timing? Keep it at 0 it works best there if the truck is stock. If GM could get more hp and mpg out of it by advancing it a few degrees then they would tell you to from the get go. Too far advanced can cause a lean condition. As well as everything xgiovannix12 has posted, "vacuum leaks, exhasut leak before sensor, low fuel pressure, bad sensor, and so on".
its not stock though. full exhaust, intake, ignition, tbi mods,93 octane, etc. it helps the "tad bit of lazyness" you feel off idle. i ran 6.5 advanced on my old blazer. it was a small difference compared to 0. never had this problem.
Ah, your TBI. With all the mods listed you really need a tune to allow for slightly more fuel. That right there could casue a lean condition. But the hard changes that warrent a timing change would be upping compresion ratio, forced induction or a different cam. Or a tune that want a different baseline. 6.5 is just border line of being too far off. At 7 there is a noticeable power loss in the low end on TBI and CPI engines. How far advanced is your truck now?
On my old blazer,i cheated and put a quarter on the regulator spring and bumped the fuel enough to compensate for the lean condition. I kept a eye on my plugs until i got it right. You are right,i do need a tune and will be using blackbear or tbichips. Im not sure where im at right now. Tomorrow im going by a shop i have work i dont wanna do done and borrow his timing light. i did move it much at all. If any Since i broke my timing light. I do need to rebuild the tbi on this thing too. Im sure it'll help.
Rebuilding the TBI could help, thats a major source of a vacuum leak right there! Man get a mild cam and better flowing intake and that thing would come to life with a good tune!!! Dam wimpy stock cam in the TBI engines is one of the biggest flaws to it.
yea they are. I replaced the tbi gasket that mounts between it and the plenum. Engine runs sooooo smooth. no way it has a vac leak. I orta put a quarter in the regulator on this one and see what happens. Nothing to loose but 30 min of my time.
checked timing today. Whoever put the engine in didnt set it correctly.it was 15 degrees advanced. crazy the truck even ran without pinging. I guess im glad the knock sensor probably retarded it. anyways, that didnt fix the light. Im going to toss a quarter in it tomorrow and see what happens. later this week il get a fuel filter too.
