cracked brake line need help
 

ok i have a small crack in my brake line going from proportioning valve down to rear brakes. its the coiled line coming off the back of the valve twards the fire wall. where can i get a replacement? any info would be great-

this is a 1987 2.8 v6 btw

I am guessing the only place your going to find this part is at a junk yard, maybe newer years will fit. I am sure someone on here will eventually tell you what will work. Maybe it's a part that never really changed and one off a 94 blazer and down will fit.

thank you. going to hit a junk yard on my day off. id would prefer to replace with a new line. im going to look into makeing one if all else fails

It seems like it would be a PITA to make a line like that, I tryed searching for it on orilies web site and found nothing but like I was saying I bet those lines are something that hasn't really changed until 95 or maybe even 98. I had an 89 and the master cylinder looks the same on my 94, twirly lines coming off the master.

ive done those curled lines before its really not that bad. only problem with where it is is that sometimes gm likes to use weird fittings going into the proportioning valve so you may have to cut the new line and reflare it after you put on the fitting that came off the proportioning valve

also if the line broke further down you can just cut it, save the coiled part then just reflare it and buy a adapter to combine it to another brake line.

but to do the coiled part just take some line and bend it around a pipe

i had to replace the proportioning valve and i have the wrenches to get the fittings off no problem. the crack is like 1.5" off the prop. valve spraying fluid against the bracket when pressure is applied. the brake light isnt coming on so it isnt bad, but im not driving it for now. im going to have to go to a junk yard i guess. i still havent been to the dealership but iv found nothing on-line. ill keep this updated and thnx for the help so far. keep it coming.

on a side note. carolina classic truck is the only place i found a prop. valve in case anyone ever needs one. their was one at a dealership up north somewhere, but they had one, literally lol
