Fuel pump ???
When the fuel pump breaks down, does it go all at once,or goes failing over time ?
|
Either is possible. Typically when it is starting to fail it will begin to make noise. Usually the pump will make some noise, but when failing it will get louder and much more noticeable. If you think it's noisy, best to replace it now....before it does fail altogether. It is also possible for it to just fail altogether one day, though typically unlikely. It is more likely that an unexpected failure would be from a bad relay or electrical connection than a pump just instantly dying.
Don't under ANY circumstances replace it with a airtex/autozone pump. You'll be replacing it again within a few months. Take the time to buy a Delphi pump and you'll be glad you did later on. |
Thanks for the input, and the tip about the delphi pump, will surely have it on mind...

You should have only delco or delphi on your mind for the pump, if you have anything else in your mind for brands, remove that thought. Because they SUCK.
|
they tipically either work or dont work.

Ive had em just quit, and get noisy. Pressure test is your best bet. Amd x3 on the delco only.

Sure this is a difference of onion, but Bosch does make a good fuel pump for it. I know, I ran one in a 93 I owned.

I respect your opinion. But the data does not lie. A simple search will show you that 99% of people have the new pumps fail in a couple weeks or months if its not delphi or delco

my fuel pump died a slow, noisy and painful death...you may as well replace the sending unit while you are at it too
