Fuel pump no workie after tank removed?

1994 Blazer S10 Tahoe 4x4

Got this little beauty for a song, had been sitting for about a year. New battery and fuel, runs like a top. Or did...

Took it to mechanic for road certification. Needed welding on the frame, mainly on the back, had to replace the rear crossmember entirely. Of course for safety sake, they removed the fuel tank.

However, after putting it back, they can't get the pump working (pump was replaced just before it was parked).

Question, are/is there more than one ground possibly for the pump located on or near the tank that could be causing an issue?

The only ground I know of (on a 2nd gen) is on the crossmember behind the tank, above the spare tire well. If that checks out good, then check the fuel pump plug for voltage. If that's good, too, maybe they broke your pump during the work, and aren't telling you? LOL

Thanks I'll mention that to him. Had almost a foot of snow so far this morning, and I want my new toy!! LOL

There is a fuse also for the pump

Mechanic called me tonight - they ended up yanking the tank again, since they couldn't get the pump to work. Once they did that, they found out the reason - the pump had been dislodged, and fallen inside the tank, losing the terminal connection. This was a good thing actually, since on inspection, they found *bare* wires inside the tank..

wow....

As the guy said, it would have only taken one spark...

Nah, one spark in the tank is not going to cause it to explode... you need this thing called air to fuel mix with the fumes. All there is is fumes in a gastank. No air, no bang.

Glad you got her going.
