got trans in,now engine stumbles and wants to stall.
its in a 94 sonoma. 4.3 tbi.4l60e. Installed trans and now engine stumbles in gear and wants to stall if you get into it. Keep in mine the driver side exhaust manifold is open, and the driver side of the Y pipe is open, and another cut was made about 4 inches right after the single o2 sensor. Im hoping its just a mix of no back pressure, and the o2 sensor being so close to oxygen and its making the engine run super rich. I hate the hacked exhaust but i snapped 2 studs on the driver side manifold flange and didnt wanna chance anymore. So now i gotta drill those out before i can reinstall a foot or so of pipe and weld everything back together.
I guess im just looking for a agreement or opinion on the lack of exhaust/o2 sensor basically open. I cant do the exhaust until i come up wish some money. |
To me it sounds like the O2 sensor making it run too rich from all the exhaust leaks. Any codes?

It could be the exhaust. The other question I have is what TC did you use? To high or low of a stall can cause those symptoms or at least it did for me in my cutlass years ago. I swapped the trans and reused my TC and I had to pull it and put in a higher stall TC due to the transs being built and having higher pressures and such if that all makes sense. I would defenantly look into the o2 sensors and such first though just cause thats way easier. Hopefully someone else will chime in as that's the only experience I have with it sorry:(

well, trans came out of a s10. so con should be right. im hoping its just the exhaust. man if this ant it and its the trans im hauling this puppy to the scrap yard.

It sounds like a good guess. If it was only when slowing down or putting in gear with the brake on, then i might think about a stuck TCC. I think that's what's wrong with mine that's why it comes to mind hopefully it will throw some codes to let you know more.

FIGURED IT OUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
it was a mixture of a corroded cap/rotor and a loose plug wire. No wonder it ran so bad. i pulled a plug too. its in dead need of a tune up. everything is toast. but i took it around the block and found just a TINY bit of hesitation. Im happy. now if i can come up with the money to get the exhaust done, etc and them studs drilled out il be in heaven. |
