hey all, Newby here....

Hi all. New to the site and new to blazers. Have a couple of questions: I have a 94 blazer with 5.7ltr 350 TBI. I just bought the thing a couple of months ago. The engine has 195000 miles on it. I want to put a stand alone 383 stroker in it(carburated), but Im not sure about using the tranny with this setup. Its the electronic tranny 4l60e. I have been told that I can use this, but there is something you have to do to the valve body, and need a different torque converter. Any Ideas??? Also, does the ecm control anything else besides the fuel injection and timing? Can I just remove the computer when I put this engine in??? Sorry about the long post, just trying to figure all of this out.

Thanks for any info

I think you would be better off in the long run to keep it fuel injected.

As for the 4L60E tranny, it can be built to handle 450ft pounds of torque. Is your tranny built for that much power, and how much power will the 383 push out. If your close to the upper limit, you might want to drop in a 4L80E tranny, or go NV4500. Either of those will require drivetrain modifications. Once you get the tranny to handle the power, the next thing to break will be driveshafts and axles. You could swap in a 14bolt. How much power do you want? How much money you got to spend? Power costs money, lots of money. Not trying to disuade you, justtrying to get some of the other considerations out there for you to research and think about.
