Interior light stays on?

For some reason my interior light just stays on?
The manual switch does not work, to turn it off)
I went around and pushed the light plungers in the
doors and nothing happened. I had to disconnect the
battery to get it off, Any help on this?

RE: Interior light stays on?

It is probably a shorted out door jam switch ( light plunger). You will need to unscrew the switch and pull it out in order to see which one it is.
There is just a single wire attatched to each switch so be sure that when you pull out the switch that the wire is not resting against any metal. Touching that wire to ground turns on the light.
Let us know if this helps.

Yup, you'll basically want to pull them all and disconnect them. Your light should then go off. If it doesn't, then the wiring itself is suspect. You can test each of the door switches with a multimeter in continuity test mode. When the switch is uncompressed, there should be continuity between the body of the switch and the terminal on the back. When it is compressed, there should not be continuity.

RE: Interior light stays on?

This could be something really simple. In my S10 Blazer where the knob to dimm or brighten your instrument panel is...if the knob is turned all the way to the brightest setting, you can move it further untill it clicks, which turns on the dome lights. Try moving it back some.
