Rear glass / trunk won't lock?
While going over routine maintenance and cleaning, I discovered that my 1993 Blazer's rear glass wouldn't lock. It shuts and latches fine, but the exterior "t" handle with the lock cylinder behind it can be turned to open the glass without the key. This occurs whether the vehicle's driver's and passengers' doors are locked or open. I figured it must be the cylinder, so I replaced the unit ($20). To no avail.... Suggestions? As said earlier, it latches fine, just won't "lock". Advice appreciated as I need a secure vehicle. Thanks!

the aftermarket units suck. ive gone through 3 on mine in no time. All of them stop locking. Return the new one for another one and try it again.

Sucks alright! I discovered that the "pin" that retracts when you insert the key doesn't go out far enough to catch reliably to stop rotation, and its' corners are rounded to top it off. But to discover that, I lost the two springs that push it down. After a beach trip this weekend (where it will stay locked as it can't open) I'm exchanging it.

Mine does not lock either, but to be fair, previous owner got the gate from someone in TX cause its rust free, and removed the tumblers instead of getting it re-keyed. I think I might just bite the big one and get one from rock auto. Apparently re-keying a new one to use your previous keys is pretty easy.

I guess I can consider myself lucky as mine works fine. (for now)
The only thing that doesn't work is the electric unlock for the glass. |
Trying #3 from NAPA. Balkamp part. We'll see if the third time's a charm.

I picked up a OEM gate lock from the u pull this past weekend, had a key in it too, and it works, for 2.50, Worth a try on seeing if your local upull has one.
