rod knock?

i have a 89 blaZer 4.3 tbi runs good, starts right up,runs fine plenty of power, but i noticed what i believe to be a rod knock about 2800 rpm when in neutral.it has good oil pressure driving its around 60lbs an idling around 40.any ideas an if it is a rod can i drop the pan a change it as long the rods an crank are all true an not scored,we did in a work truck an drove it for overa year till it met another truck at a intercetion,my ? is has anyone change them in the truck an what has the outcome been, like how long did they last.thanks in advance

the only problem with dropping the pan is on the s10s its kind of a pain due the crossmember. ive done it years back on a k5 blazer. my buddy spun a bearing on the truck and drove it for like a month till he gave it to me. the crank was ovaled by the time i got it. anyways i threw the next sized bearing on it and it only knocked at like 3000rpms, drove it for like a year like that with no problems.

they sell that plastigauge stuff your supposed to use to determine what size bearing you will need.

also one other thing to check too. is make sure your flexplate isnt cracked, it will sound like a rod knock too. transmission on a 82 suburban i had came loose and cracked the flexplate and it was banging like crazy.
