rough idle on start up (83 s10blazer)
 

alright guys im relatively new to chevrolet being a diehard ford fan. im sure most things are the same. but i just bought a new blazer a few days ago just a few minor problems like the ebrake not holding strong and a rough idle while chilly in morning and itll only stray running for 2-3 seconds if your lucky unless your patting the gas pedal with your foot for a few minutes.. what do you guys suspcet my problem to be. doubt it to be the culprit but i do have a set of sparkplugs that need to be installed. any sensors valves or vacumm problems possibly? or need to adjust the carb

You may want to start with a rebuild on the carb, a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, & rotor) and getting a decent repair manual. They may be difficult to find, but the factory service manuals will give you the most detail and will prove to be worth the expense. There are quite a few on eBay right now for <$50.

There shouldn't be any sensors that could really screw with the engine operation much.

If rebuilding a carb is a little tough for you to do, you can get a new one from craigslist or ebay for about 200 bucks im sure. They are not too hard to swap over, but can be tricky when taking them apart for the first time. Check out youtube for videos on taking them apart too if you need, there is all kinds of good videos on youtube.

heck sounds like every old 80s blazer i ever owned. my 85 is the same way. you have to kinda gas it for 20-30 seconds, even more if its really cold then it will stay running

cant afford a manual or a new carb right now. spent all my money i had saved up on this truck so i could work. got a few dollars here and there. will put some plugs in today that i already have. bout to get the parking brake tightened up so it doesnt roll away. im sure i could do a rebuild on the carb. cant be any harder than a engine rebuild or dissasembly ive done quite a few of those and complete restorations on other cars so i can handle that. i can go ahead and clean the carb out for sure today. rebuild later. but cant to to much as weather is not on my side
