rough idleing
i have been having problem after problem w/ my car...now when i turn it out it sound like a diesel truck and runs really rough when idleing...does anyone know what this could be? i was thinkin it was my EGR valve b/c ive had trouble w/ it before...but when that happened the car died and now its not so i have no clue.
It's possible that it's still EGR valve. Before you replace it again, if that's the problem, I would suggest getting one of those screens first, because a lot of the time the valve is just dirty, and if you get a screen for like $30, it's way cheaper than a new EGR valve that is still fine but just needs to be cleaned. It might have a crack somewhere in the manifold too...mine's like that right now and it sound similar to what yours seems to be sounding like. Is it auto or standard? If it's auto and it's shifting kinda strange as well, you might need to change your tranny fluid.
im not sure what year your truck is, but if it has a MAF sensor, try unplugging the wires from it. if it smoothes out the idle a little bit then you need a new sensor. but it may not have one. it could also be a vacum leak. do you hear a hissing at all? try squirting a little carb cleaner around the intake manifold and vacum lines. if the idle changes, then you got a vacum leak. do you have a check engine light on?
