ok Ive got the 93 gmc jimmy 4.3 and in the morning I have to like free the steering wheel. It seems to be sticking a little after I free it turning the wheel to the left and right it works fine. But today I took a flashlight right before I left work and looked at the linkage under the hood It looks like some wear at one of the connections and I was concerned with how to go about fixing it. I will post some pictures in a bit this is like a warm up for all those specialists in the field. Also I am concerned about a manifold exhaust leak noise as well pics comming guys and gals hold on. I need some help on this one. Also please check out my spot and leave a message once in a while. Appreciate it. Take care just plain lucky

Ok I see twenty-five views thanks so much as the king use to say I am also thinking about replacing the control arms both sides and axles both sides as well. And an exhaust manifold or the gasket as well. Got to think about priorities. What do you guys and gals think do them both at same time right? One side at a time then alignment ugh my spelling is horrible ok thats better. More later Its time to go shopping hahahahah

Your post seems to jump around quite a bit and isn't quite clear as to what you are talking about... Please try to be clear and as descriptive as possible when posting.

If you were looking at things from under the hood (IE the steering shaft that runs from the column to the steering gear box), you can replace anything there yourself without the need to get an alignment. The 'rag joint' (flexible connection from the intermediate shaft to the gear box itself - run a search on it as it's been discussed in detail somewhat recently) can go bad especially when talking about a 10+ year old truck.

If you are talking about the steering linkage down under the truck, I would replace pretty much everything if you were in there. Pitman arm, idler arm, and both the inner and outer tie-rod ends on both sides. Check over the upper and lower ball joints as well as the control arm bushings where they mount to the frame (both upper & lower control arms) on both sides. Replace everything that is deteriorated and then get it aligned.

Damn ya all are the coolest sorry I just got off work no time to take pics Your advice so far is tremendous Thanks allready swartlkk Your right sorry about that There is just so many things I want to do.Your advise I definetly appreciate I will look in to that section and see whats up with it. The bushings on the control arms are shot the ball joints are semi new I replace them not too long ago when I was in IL. The boots on the axles are torn and the axle replacement would be a cheap fix instead of monkeying around with just putting on new boots and regreasing them.I put out another thread about that burn-ing soul7 thanks for the humor I will get the pic asap. abig84 yeah thanks for looking out and the heads up didn't think it was the pump hummmm? sounds about the same but with mine like I mentioned once I turn the wheel to the left or right a little bit it seems to work fine. Thanks for looking out though I work a lot sorry guys but I will get on top of this one for sure again thank you for your responses Take care Just plain lucky.
