Just installed my new intake gaskets on my 93 s10 blazer 4.3 CPI when I removed the distributer Im sure I moved the bottom gear and I forgot to mark it I did mark the top of the dis. So now its all put back to gether and it wont start because the dis shaft moved is there any way to quick fix this because I dont have a timing gun, I re checked and re check all sensors and everything is connected please any help

RE: Timing issue

If the truck will not start, then you are probably more than a tooth off. The lower gear does not move independent of the rotor on top. You can get it back proper by getting the motor to TDC on the #1 cylinder, then installing the distributor so that the rotor lines up with the #1 plug wire on the cap.

cool thank you so much, also I got it to start but it doesnt have the same power it has less power now but if i do what you say to do will that fix the problem. Plus I notied that the dis will only go in 2 ways.
And will I need a timing gun or can I just set it to TDC by rotateing the crank shaft if that makes any sense lol and what degree like 0 or 2?

If you have a vacuum gage you can time the distributer to have the higest vacuum reading at idle. You need to disconnect the advance wire under the dash on the passenger side (Brown Wire/Stripe)

I forgot to mention, my 4wheel drive was acting up just last week were it wouldnt engage, it would engage only in revese and I had to hit the low first and then the HI then put it in Drive right after, after installing my intake gaskets my 4wheel drive works again the right way, anyone have a clue why it acted up in the first place?? maybe a vacume?
