Would like your input on 4.3 vortec W rebuild

it's a 92 blazer 4dr vortec W engine.
I would like to rebuild for performance, but don't want to spend more than maybe 2k. Somewhere between 250-300hp would be nice.
I am not a mechanic, but I can get by for most things. I will prolly have to get some of the things done by a 3rd party.
Would like your input on parts/products and tips. Links of best place to buy would be nice too.
If anyone is in the Triad area of NC and can help out. hit me up.

THanks,
D

RE: Would like your input on 4.3 vortec W rebuild

My best suggestion, contact "Summit Racing" and talk to someone on there. I don't know if they still do it, but they helped me a LOT when I built my 1st motor. They suggested parts told me when 2 parts wouldn't "play nice" with each other.

The main thing that you'll have to look at is if you want to keep the factory ECU program or go with a custom chip. Also, if you have a CPI setup, and want to keep it that way, you'll be limited to everything but fuel delivery, which will make for some fun configuring.

If I was to attempt 200-300bhp at the flywheel with my Vortec "W" motor, I'd be getting a custom chip made for my setup. I'd go with a belt driven turbo, full custom exhaust starting with headers, lightweight pistons and rods, full crank balance, roller lifters and roller rocker arms, matching cam, and a full port matching. An electric fan set will also free up a little bit more HP.

Off the top of my head, without doing a good bit of research into it, that's pretty much where I'd start. Check out Summit Racing for parts. Check out "LMC Truck" for some parts as well.

For $2000 budget your not likely to get 250 hp out of a 4.3 just a stock rebuiltjasper engine is $1970.00 and thats like what190-210hp? I think you would probably be needing about $3000 to get an honest250-300 hp out of that motor.
