I have a 2001 chevy blazer 4.3 v6. One day the battery died and ever since, have been having this problem. In park and neutral, you can rev it out and it gets fuel fine. But when in gear(drive or reverse) the car just sputters out and dies and won't take fuel. I thought it was a dirty fuel filter, changed it, did nothing. Can hear the fuel pump running so dont think its that. Been at it for about a week now and can't figure it out. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

 

Have you checked the battery voltage when it's running?

Have you checked fuel pressure and leakdown? There is a service port just to the left of the distributor. Most auto parts stores rent/loan the tester for free, and sell them for ~$40. When you have one handy, let us know and we can explain how to do the tests. Easy to do and only takes about 15 minutes.
