Default 02 sensor question

My mechanic did a test on my truck to find out my SES code...I have pulled the code many times but the sensor I replaced wasn't the right one. He could monitor the sensors in real time and said the sensor under the hood at the manifold was bad. I went online to Advance and they list the same part# for all the O2 sensors....problem is that the one under the hood has a different connector and a longer wire...the part number is ACDelco AFS105...does this have to be spliced in? If so what wire. It looks like one single wire going from the sensor to the connector.

You should not splice o2 sensor wires.
That being said... try and find out why the sensor is throwing a code. Something is causing the code... the sensor is only detecting a problem. Could be a lean or rich condition... temp related... fuel quality... etc.
Replacing the o2 sensor is only a temporary fix.

AFS105 is the proper part number for the O2 sensors in your truck. It is possible that someone replaced them with an aftermarket sensor which had a longer harness...

Thanks for the responses. The only reason I say the O2 sensor is bad is that my guy could read the voltage on the sensor and it wasn't where it should be...

As far as the sensor..my dad has a 97 jimmy as well and it is the same type....long single wire going to a what looks like a 2 wire type connector.

Yeah..I'm an idiot...the sensors are all the same...I was looking from the engine bay down and looking at another sensor...all 4 are the same...
