now for the questions lol.

Im going to go look at a 1998 Blazer ZR2, and the P.O. says that the "4wheel works like new. It runs very well and has 173,000 miles. It's a 4.3l vortec v6 at about 200hp. New parts include water pump, oil system including lines, upper and lower balljoints, shackles, battery and 32" m/t tires less than a year old."

He is asking $3000 for the blazer does it sound worth it?

also whats the main differences between the zr2 and the stock blazer?

I can't answer for the ZR2 Blazer, but for the ZR2 s10 the difference is bigger springs, bigger tires,and undercarriage protection (for off road).

What you don't mention is the vehicle's history. if it has been in a northern state- the brake and fuel pipes are likely about to fail, these vehicles have huge issues with rot of the brake pipe from salt, and can be very expensive to replace.

Next is a radiator pressure test. These vehicles have LIM gasket failures, a pressure test is critical.

3k for a Texas ZR2- good buy if it holds radiator pressure. 3K for a Michigan ZR2 13 years old- walk away IMHO.

 

I am looking to purchase a 2000 ZR2 Blazer also. I have heard about the intake gaskets.

A GM Tech friend of mine also mentioned the 4x4 vacuum system getting fluid in it and causing problems including pushing fluid into dash and cabin. Trans fill tube getting rust and the body has to come off the frame to replace the tube. Inside of brake rotors delam.

Has anyone ever heard for these problems before?

 

checked it today, and found that the interior needs some work, there's a oil leak around the oil fill tube on the P/S valve cover, and what scared me the most was when i pulled the radiator cap and saw fix-a-leak in the coolant...

The PO said it was because the water pump went bad and he threw it in the get to the mechanic to replace the water pump...I did check and the water pump and it was brand new.

My concern is if that fix-a-leak is covering something else up?
There were no coolant leaks tho... and no white smoke from the exhaust and the oil was not milky at all so i don't think there's any cylinder head issues?

With that I found I was able to talk him down to $2,300, but with those issues do you think its still worth it????

 

I would not take it with stop leak identified in the cooling system. Failing water pumps simply need more coolant installed. If he had time to purchase and install stop leak he could of easily installed coolant and drove it to shop. You may have heater core issues, who knows, what else.

 

I've used stop leak before to stop a small water pump seal leak until I could change it, so it's not so far-fetched. I'd love to get my hands on a ZR2. In my opinion, 2,300 is a good price as long as it's not rusted out.

ZR2's are more than a lift, the suspension is different from a stock blazer. They have a wider track, about 3 inches I believe. The differentials are beefier, too.
