1997 Blazer - installing heated mirror in non-heated
I know this is uncharted territory - and I found all the diagrams I could on the forums.
I have a 1997 Blazer with the standard power mirrors. I had to replace my drivers side and came across a heated drivers mirror from another 97.
Mine has the 4 pin hookup, this has a 6 pin.
I did remove the door harness off the donor Blazer. The door has 5 wires going to the mirror plug. Orange, Black, White, Yellow, Green. I'm assuming the black is the heater wire as it's the only added color.
Now, I'm thinking this black wire should be wired to the rear defroster timed circuit. And I did find that well documented diagram. I'm figuring to tap the output wire that comes from the "Solid State Timer".
My question is this...where is this timer located?

Seems they apparently did not make a heated, power adjustable, power folding mirror in Silverados until 2003. Two RPO codes. DL3 and the trailer towing one is DPF. There is module programming differrence between the two on the same year truck so there is more to this than the mirrors and wiring.
You can find a replacement in Rock Auto under 2003 Silverado. Doubt if they fit doors other than 2003-2006.
My 2004 Avalanche has the DL3 mirror RPO code. I think both the power folding and heated option is broken on both sides, but the power adjustment works.
Hope this helps somehow.

This is for the 2nd gen, you will want to start a thread in the new blazer section.
But I honestly think you might get a faster response at a dealer, due don't have many members here with the new blazer YET.
please come back and update if and when resolved to help others!
