Recently bought this 1997 Bravada with lots of little problem. I've been reading lots of threads on a couple of sites and most of my problems seem typical. Odometer is at 190,000. Whole top of the engine looks brand new, found a receipt in the glove box telling me that all the fluids were recently changed, including radiator tranny rear end etc. New fuel pump. Truck has plenty of power and responds great. The digital gauge is telling me im averageing 20 mpg driving on city roads mostly. Now the problems....First thing is the notorious dome light issue that seems common with this make/model. It won't turn off, have to leave the fuse out. Seller told me that started when the drivers side window motor was replaced. I have seen lots of people talk about this problem and lots of possible causes but no one ever says if they fixed the issue or what solved it. Second, my wipers only work on high....I saw the diagnostic for that already so no need to respond to that. Today it didnt want to start in the rain when engine was cold, would turn over but took a while to finally pop off. Plugs and wires look like they need to be changed so gonna try that first thing tomorrow. This weekend im gonna do the front shocks <suggestions?> at least, possibly rip the whole front end apart because all the bushing look like they died along time ago. Most of the little issues seem to be with the interior electrical. I noticed today that all the fuses on the driver side dash fuse panel looked tarnished, not rusted like other people have posted with similar problems. So there is my list so far. I'll pull codes and post them here tomorrow. So please feel free to throw out any suggestions and I'll keep up with progress reports on my little project here.

 

I've got a 97 bravada too..with 200k, and its got the same little dome light bug..mine is mostly doing good now, is both of your front floor board lights working? i found if i smack the black plastic in the passenger floorboard that the light will stay on. for the rainy start....try replacing your distributor cap and rotor....i had the same issue and then it started misfiring......
