Default 1999 ign key stuck

Hello, I have 1999 model, the ign key won't turn all the way back to the lock position (can't remove key either) unless the battery is disconnected, I have tried unplugging the three wire plug which is situated on the top of the ign barrel but made no difference, all fuses seem to be okay, any ideas??? Thanks, Brett.

Sounds like the vehicle somehow things the transmission is not in park. If you wiggle the gear shift lever, does this allow you to remove the key?

Default RE: 1999 ign key stuck

Hi,
thanks for the reply, I have delved in further and pulled the console out, the problem is the rod in the shifter from the **** to the mechanism under the console is jammed, this allows the shifter to be moved without having to lift the flap on the ****, also it is not allowing the white plastic cam to pivot enough to engage the switch for the steering lock, by pushing this switch by hand I can turn the key completely and remove it from the ign barrel, my problem is now the shifter rod jamming, is this a common fault, can it be repaired or should I try and find another one, if so where?
Thanks, Brett.
