Default 1999 Jimmy no start issues (good pressure)

Im sorry if this is in the wrong section but if it please move.

I have a 1999 GMC Jimmy with 4.3L of course that wont start. I have checked fuel pressure and is where it needs to be (changed pump in Nov). The battery is dead but have been jumping trying to start. I just recently changed the intake gaskets thinking that was possibly the problem (needed changed anyways) but was not it. Doing the same thing as before. I did get it started before but ran real rough and bad. Checked fuel pressure while driving and was good also. The distributor went back in same way as it came out and form what I can tell only goes in one way (2 ways if your 180 out and change the clip around to other side I guess). I can smell fuel and have checked for spark (which it has) only on #2 cylinder. I dont think its that but guess I should check em all. I just changed the crank posistioning sensor today to no avail also. Is it a must to get that reprogrammed? Ive done em before and havent had too. Im at wits end and have to get this thing running real soon w/o dumping alot of money in it.

Am I missing something inherint on these trucks or what? Any help is appreciated.

PS - I searched here and really didnt see anything exactly pertaining to this.

It would be better if you would post the actual figures you are getting during the fuel pressure check. Too many have said they were good, but turn out to be otherwise. Has the SES light been on (any codes)? Why not get a new battery if yours is dead? Have you tried using starting fluid or gas in the throttle body to start it?

Fuel pressure is slightly above 60 at key on. I havent got any codes cause it wont start and battery drains. I had tried to get it read after pulling it down to Advanced Auto but it says there werent any codes. Now my old crank sensor might be good. I just found out today old battery was toast due to bad cells and y it wasnt charging. Will be getting new one tomorrow. I have not put gas nor ether in TB to get it started cause figured thats not helping the root cause. If it wont start theres a reason or a m I wrong? I dont know really. Was just wondering if there are inherent flaws associated with these motors that I havent addressed yet. Thanks for the replys and keep em coming.

Do you notice the security light on the dash staying lit when the key is in the ON position?

Cant say I did but thats not to say it wasnt. I know it was blinking but never paid much attention to it afterwards. The check engine light stays on while cranking but pulls no codes. Go figure. I dont think its the anti theft sytem as it runs really crappy when it started before. That was like 2 weeks ago.

Ok so took it to dealer and they raped me for $450 said it was distributor out 20* and changed plugs (which was $9 /pc!). Changed radiator tonight and now the POS doesnt run again...doing same thing...soaked the plugs in fuel and getting spark but at different times I think. Now it has a bang to it when starting..not sure if started going out or flywheel or what. Any other ideas? Im calling dealer tomorrow but Im sure he will try to dip out as they usally do as Im not giving him another penny.

my 96 was hard start idle rough before I dug into it (bought it this way). Found that the IAC was bad causing rough idle, high idle and sometimes no start. Just a thought
