We just brought home a 00 Blazer for my 16 yr old and starting to fix the little stuff before we dig into the bigs. The HVAC fan does not work and there was also no fuse on the drivers side of the IP for the HVAC (position 9). Can someone confirm that there should in fact be a fuse here? If so, we need to pull apart that fuse black as someone may have dislodged the connector for the fuse in changing it or attempting to test it. Any input would be great!

The HVAC1 fuse in 21 is good as is the 30A under the hood, but there is no relay under the hood for this vehicle.

 

Are you referring to the heater/AC blower fan?

 

Srsly, WTF, I have a fuse in position number 1, and dont remember it off the top of my head, but MTopper doesnt have a fuse there either... hmmmm

wlorton - different vehicles have different fuse locations and such...

We have determined that there is no fuse / wiring for a fuse in position 9 and also found that there is 14 volts at the purple wire at the fan... I assume the black wire is the control for fan speed so we must need a fan?

Anyone know the best method to change it out? I assume pulling the rt fender is required. Any input would be great!

 

Well, I have 98 blazer 4 door 4x4 with Headlight fuses of 10A, and a fuse in spot one....

He has headlight fuses of 15A and no fuse in spot one....

 

The purple wire comes from the blower resistor pack. The black wire at the blower is ground for the motor. It should show less than 5 ohms resistance to ground. If the purple wire shows battery voltage and the black wire resistance to ground is ok and the blower doesn't work, it needs a new blower motor.
