Default 2001 Brake Master Cylinder

I'm working on my buddy's 2001 Blazer, 4-door, 4x4 and found a connector dangling loosely that looks as if it reaches the Master Cylinder perfectly. At the right side of the Master Cylinder, I can see what appears to be a receptacle broken off flush with the reservoir body. I personally own a 2000 Blazer LT, 4-door, 4X4 along with a 98 Blazer, 4-door, 4X4 that I've been using as a parts locker. Neither of these have a connector there. Was there a change to the Master Cylinder in 2001 that added a sensor/connector? Would this just be used to indicate a loss of fluid or trigger the brake lights? I have no brake warnings/indications on the dash now. Thanks in advance!
