No offense taken. If your truck runs better if you wear a red shirt...then wear a red shirt! I am a true believer that vehicles have a soul. You treat them nice then generally they repay you with reliability. If youre mean to them they will let you down.

Never! and I mean NEVER talk about selling your vehicle within earshot of it! It will get jealous and little things will start to happen!!!

Seriously, if it runs beeter with more fuel in it then by all means keep it that way.

alright, an update... the check engine light finally came on. i've replaced the coolant sensor and the thermostat and it seems to run better. will have to wait until summer to see if it fixed the stalling issue. but, according to the guy at our local parts store, this could've been the problem...

still not a clue why me heater only works on 2 and 3 though...

 

I have a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo whose fuel pump was failing last summer only when low on fuel and it was hot out. I agree completely that fuel surrounding the pump does provide a cooling effect. If the fuel level was low and I took a corner, it would shift the fuel in the tank to cover more surface area of the pump, this would cool it and it would run better. Some may read this and state that the turn simply sloshed more fuel to the pump suction inlet but considering the level of fuel in the tank, this would not be the case.
