Default 2002 chevy blazer side view mirror

Hi,
Does anyone know hoe to remove just the glass from a 2002 blazer mirror assy with heated glass? I would like to replace the glass but I dont want to do it the way that involves glueing a new piece of glass to the plastic bezel. I know that these are normally held with a ball joint in the center and two plastic stud gears for the power mirror movement.
Has anyone just removed the glass and backing without breaking the glass.
Please let me know
Thanks
Buddy

It may be cheaper just to replace the entire mirror. I got each of mine for about 10 bucks here http://www.discountautomirrors.com/c...29&Ns=price3|0 looks like yours are about
$15 a piece.

Actually, yes....sort of...

The mirror is actually comes in (2) pieces. One over the other. Not exactly sure why. ??

Anyways, my Blazer's DS mirror was cracked so I took my Blazer to a local glass shop to get replaced. The guy gave me a high quote ($120) for a new mirror and my eyes popped out of my head.

He said I actually could get buy without buying a new one.

He popped the mirror out and removed the outer layer of glass (the one that had the crack).

The mirror functions well (without) the outer layer, however you will see a ghost image of the lettering "Objects in Mirror are Closer than they appear". It's not real noticeable and does not interfere with visibility.

Saved me $120 !!
