Default 2dr Fuel Tank Vent puking fuel

2000 Blazer LS 2dr 4x4 ZR2.

It was 90 degrees and Blazer sat in sun all day with only 1.5 gallons of fuel. I drove it 20 miles then stopped at gas station. I put pump on full blast and tank took 17.7 gallons then stopped. I pumped in another .3 gallons and the pump clicked off again. Then I hear a release of air and fuel near the tank. It puked fuel from what sounded like the top of the tank. I look underneath to see about 1/2 gallon of fuel leaking off the fuel tank skid plate onto the ground.

The Blazer started right up and I moved it into a parking spot. The leaking stopped and the Blazer was running fine, showed full on the gauge. I then drove it 230 miles back home. It runs fine now, no leaking. I just replaced the fuel pump myself 2 weeks ago. I have an intermittent check engine light but it always goes away. Autozone code reader didn't produce any codes.

I think that the fuel tank vent pushed fuel out. Could that be the case?

I can find a vent at either lmctruck.com or Rockauto. Do the 2dr have a fuel tank vent? (Its a steel tank)
