The steering wheel being "tight" is a regular symptom of 4wd, especially while turning.

Default 4x4 Issues

I still have my 2000 Blazer it is a LS with 126000 miles it has the 3 button setup on the 4x4 drive. The weather was bad where i live a few days ago so I pulled over stopped and put it in 4x4 mode. Well as long as i stayed at a slow speed like under 15 or 20 it was fine. But when i got any faster than that a noise came from the front like a whining or high pitch roar sound. It also felt like it wanted to pull to the right really bad, but after I took out of 4x4 it would not come out right away it took a minute and when it did come out it made a really loud popping sound in the front right tire. any ideas about what could be wrong and how i should go about getting it fixed?

*Combining Duplicate Threads* - There is no need to start another thread about the same issue. Please be patient and wait for responses. While you are waiting, try some searches using key words about your problem. Many topics on the 4wd system and its inherent problems have been discussed in detail on the forum.

Your problem could be caused by a vacuum leak, sticking front actuator cable, or a problem internal to the front axle having to do with the engagement collar/shift fork/etc.

Have you checked/changed the fluid in your transfer case recently?

Low and or dirty/worn fluid can cause 4WD sticking as you described.

You could also have an actuator that is sticking and not releasing your 4WD promptly.
Both are usually easy to fix and are common 4WD issues.

Does anybody have any idea how much that would cost to have done by a pro or any suggestions about where the best place to take it to to have it done would be

Well I took your advice and went and had the fluid changed and it did help a lot. I still thinking there might be another problem with the front wheel bearing but the 4wd is working a lot better. THANK YOU
