Default 4x4 now even a bigger problum

I have a 2001 2 door blazer with 3 buttons 2HI 4HI 4LO
my 4x4 was not working right so I looked on here for some ideas. What I did is put it in neutral set the parking brake. hit the 4hi button both 4hi and 4lo blinked and went back to 2hi after about 10 times of hitting 4hi it locked in 4lo??? Then after that I tryed to go back to 2hi and it made the clicking sound only it stays clicking just click click click click all the time unless i put it in Drive what in the hell is going on. Anything I can do????????

Thank You

It would help if we know what year model 4x4 you have some have Like the Bravada and S10 TrailBlazer have "AUTO" 4x4 and then the rest have two speed selectable. The transfer cases are different...

Then you have the two speed selectable t-case...it uses vacuum and electronics (Transfer Case Control Module under dash) to switch between 2hi to 4hi (mode select) and electronic (encoder motor)to go from 4hi to 4lo(range select)...there is a vacuum switch on the drivers side of the transfer case if it is leaking then you would have trouble getting into 4hi and 2hi... there is a vacuum actuator under the battery box that takes the vacuum from the transfer case switch to switch the front axles into 4x4 hi mode. If the switch fails or is weak then it will not work properly...you could also have a weak or failing encoder motor it controls ranging from between 4lo and 4hi and also to 2hi (if the encoder can't get to 4hi then the vacuum switch on the t-case can't send vacuum to the acutator to get to 2hi)...
