Default 4x4 swap project

So I want a fast car again.... Insurance keeps me in the blazer tho. I like the look of the 2 door(I have a 95 2 door 4x4) and i like the interior space.... I hate everything else mostly because my car is a piece! I do however have an LT1 and 4l60e sitting in my garage out of a roadmaster.... everthing but fans for swap! I remember a guy on here a long time ago saying he was gonna get rid of the 4x4 and go 4x2 LTor LS. I have no idea what to search under though to find that. Anyone have any info on the 4x2 swap or anywhere to look or search under? Any help is appreciated and thanks guys.

you can't the 4x4 modle has a totaly different front suspetino(frame) You would have to do a ton of work or buy a new blazer(my personal fav.(I have owned 2 now)).

you are looking at a minimum $1500-$2000 to do a v-8 swap(the right way)and figure another $2000 to do the 4x4 conversion...it ain't worth it

I have done two swaps already, a 4x4 v-8, and a 4x2 v-8

Also, what state do you live in... most states will not inspect the blazer if you do a motor swap

I was researching the swap too. I have a '91 4x4 and my sister totalled her 2000 4x4 Blazer. But the engine is fine except the compressor and radiator. And the engine only has like 43,000 miles on it. Well the more I found out that was involved-let's just say that's why I just bought a 95 4x4. I love it, I'll probably just drive the '91 into the ground-I really don't know who'd buy it with the engine sounding like it does...

where did you do your research... there are a lot of bogus sites out there, and the only people who make shorty style headers for the s-10 4x4 v-8 swap is on a site called JTR... Jagsthatrun.com I have spent a lot of time, money, parts, swears, busted knuckles, money, research on the web, money, more time, and blood (yes, and some tears too) on the swaps.(but I still want to do another one) If you need help, just let me know. You can believe what you want, but when I was there doing my first one, and bought the conversion kit that garanteed a perfect fit, then tried to return the kit because it didn't fit... they wouldn't take it back because they told me it was now "used"(have since called the BBB) and I ended up buying the whole kit from the nice people at JTR... just trying to save you a headache.

Actually most of my research was for LT1 swaps in general.... I( and by I i mean my friend and i) knew enough about S-10 V8 swaps that I figured wed try and buy the kit if we failed! If you want some general info on LT/LS swapping a lot of third gen camaro owners and a couple monte carlo people have some pretty good sites out there for info(I owned both of these cars so thats where my research started!). As far as this blazer project... It's not gonna happen! My blazer is just not worth the money! Thanks for the help tho guys.
