Unhappy 95 Blazer New Master Cylinder Air In Brake Lines

I have a 1995 Blazer which I recently had blown the MC to the rear brakes. A friend had several shelved and installed a new one but he did not bench bleed the MC before install but rather bleed it somehow afterwards but that certainly did not work out. I have all brakes but only if I pump them up ahead of time. The ABS has been out for years but always had good solid brakes. I just hope air hasn't invaded the ABS unit and sort of know they are impossible to bleed. Just in hopes my 95 4.3 is able to be bypassed. Can someone here be of help upon this and how to bleed the brakes being this is a result of changing the master cylinder/reservoir. Thanks very much for reading my problem. Rob

Master cylinders must be bench bled before installing, especially if equipped with ABS. If you have to pump the pedal to get a solid pedal, there's air in the system. You can try gravity bleeding each wheel, one at a time. If there is air trapped in a solenoid in the ABS unit, this may or may not get it out, but it's worth a try.
