so lately I have noticed that my 95 4dr 4x4 jimmy has a nasty wobble or rocking motion to it when I hit a bump in the road. it is bad to the p9oint that I have to take my foot off the gas sometimes to get it to settle down. Im thinking sway bar endlinks or shocks... I havent crawled under it yet as i have been busy with work the last few weeks, but plan on it tomorrow.

any one have any other ideas tha i should look at?

 

your on track probably a swaybar issue or bad shock, but if all seems good check to see if you threw a ballance weight off a tire, or rear drive shaft, then check front drive axels towit cv joints you should find it in one of these good hunting

 

When I had this problem it was a combination of idler arm,pitman arm,shocks and stabalizer link bushings. Good luck

 

You're on track. Check both front and rear

 

Idler pitman and front hubs were changed out in november....

as to shocks and swaybar, I will hopefully be under it in about two hours.

 

When I got my 99 4 door it had 30" tires on it and it was scary to drive on the hwy. Any bump made it bonce around. I put 225 on it and then had a quiet smooth ride.

 

That's a good point. Not the size, the tires. I've had bad tire do the same thing.

 

well the snowing just stopped, now the driveway is soaked... so I still haven't been under her. but as to the tires they are factory sized and fairly new. Im hoping for the shock/swaybar as these are cheaper than new tires... but definitely thanks for the ideas.

Edit, crowled under her for a min... lots of corrosion on the old shocks and it looks like oil on one of the housings... not sure what kind they are since there is THAT MUCH corrosion...





I look at it and think, "Damn thats bad." and then remind myself that it is a 1000 dollar truck with 150000 on it adn still runs pretty dam good.

I noticed that at advanced auto i can get Monroe sensatracs for 30 each... even though Im sure there are way better out there, I might get a pair tomorrow and toss them on. i have all the bolts soaking in PB Blaster right now.

 

Nice detailed pics ! I would think those stopped functioning as shock absorbers for awhile now - pull one off and see if it rebounds when pushed down or stays collapsed (dead)

The point is does it resist when you push it down. my guess is one does not.
