Default 96 Blazer Ignition Control Module removal

I have 96 blazer 4.3l 4wd. It has been running pretty rough and threw out a P0340 code. So I went to replace the Ignition Control Module (camshaft position sensor) in the distributor. Got the cap off, got the rotor off and removed the two screws that hold the module. The problem is I can't get the module out past the metal shield that sits under the rotor. How do get this shield and/or module out. Generally I can figure things out but this one has me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe I have found the answer to question:

Okay, I looked at my 96 factory manual. GM calls the pickup coil a hall switch. You have two options. One pull the distributor or turn it over (cranking or turning with a large socket at the crank pulley). The vane wheel must aligned with the hall switch for removal. GM manual reads:
6. Hall effect switch: The square cut hole (C) in the vane wheel must be aligned with the hall effect switch in order to remove the hall effect switch (Figure 4).
So looking at the vane wheel, the cut slot (on the edge) must be directly over the switch so it can come up.

Thank you to any who tried to find a solution.

No actually, thank you, never would have gotten it.
This is a good write up on this code, also I understand you need to have a case re-learn done by someone with a tech 2 scan tool.

Crankshaft position sensor relearn, (AKA case relearn), does not need to be done when replacing the camshaft position sensor. It is recommended, not required, to check and adjust camshaft retard. That must be done with a capable scan tool, (not necessarily a Tech2).

The thanks for the information is owed to gchemist over on the Chevy Talk Forum. He provided me with the information from his manual. Thank you for the additional information. Mike
