96 Blazer, Pwr Lock, Pwr Seat, Fuse Melting Hot
 

Hi everyone! This is my first post on the forums and I just signed up today. The reason I signed up was to thank but also get some ideas to an issue that I have with my beloved 1996 Chevy Blazer LT. The car itself has been in the family for 23 years now and has about 218,000 Miles on it! It's engine (Vortec) is in perfect condition and has no knocking. As for the air conditioning YES! It does work, however, the only reason it works is cause we had to get it retro-fit.


The main issue I'm encountering with the car is quite similar to an article posted on the forum however I wanted to know if any of you could completely figure it out or get close to it.


So this past week the locks on my car have been having issues. Sometimes they would work sometimes they wouldn't sometimes you could only use the key to lock and unlock them because the button on the door (on the inside driver door) wouldn't work. So a few days ago I noticed that my power seat stopped working on the driver side. So now I can't move my seat, and the door locks stopped working all together. The FOB on the key nor the buttons on the inside of the car can operate the locks. There's no sound when you click the lock or unlock button on either door.


So both the power seat and the door locks went out at the same time. Out of curiosity I took off the fuse panel to check all the fuses. During my investigation I burned my skin so bad its bright white on my red finger. I threw the fuse I was holding on the ground and jumped back. After it cooled down I put it back in and tried moving over. Well the next fuse over was a silver one, I pulled it out and HOLY **** it was hot. It burned my finger so bad I had to quit and go treat it. Keep in mind the car was off the whole time.


So today I checked all the fuses and they are all good I just made sure not to touch the silver one.


I went inside and looked it up on Google coming across this article on the forum which I'll have at the bottom of this post, and the guy had the same issue, I unplugged all the seat wires (3 on the driver and 2 on the passenger seat) and then started to plug the battery in. (The first time I took the battery off it was sparking like crazy). After the battery was in the door locks started working and the silver fuse was cold.


So that leaves me here. What could be pulling such a load to cause this, and why and how are the locks connected to it and why hasn't a fuse blown. Well let me know guys I wanna know what I can do to get my seat working again!
