Default Removing AC

Noticed I could get a belt for my truck w/o ac. Thinking of removing everything, gain space ,removed some weight. Anyone ever done this? The ac doesnt work the greatest and have to recharge 2 times a year

wont work. Tried this on a friends astro van with a 98 4.3 and in order for a non ac belt to work it needed idler pulley in a different spot,or maybe it was the tensioner pulley in the wrong spot but it couldnt work. You gotta buy the ac bypass pulley. it comes with a bracket that mounts in place of the compressor. its like 40 bucks

OK so if you need a bypass pully which would take place of the compressor, why are there 2 different belts available?. Not doubting you, just wondering

From my understanding you could get it without ac,which had a different pulley setup. When i tried using the belt,i noticed there was not enough tension and where it needed it i noticed a empty threaded hole where a pulley needed to be. You could try moving you idler pulley there? I would of tried it but we were on the side of a river fishing at 9pm,and his compressor locked up. thankfully we were like walking distance from a advance auto.

I tryed it and it simply wouldnt work not here,I could find the short belt or the bypass pulley.I checked all the bone yards none out there at any of them either except on older models.Your best shot leave on there and fix your leak.

Removing the entire AC system on your Blazer is not worth the work it takes. Your Blazer is not a race car. I don't use my AC either so I unplugged the compressor so it would not come on ever. Mine needed a recharge so it was cycling constantly and driving me crazy.

I removed the entire system from my Mustang and it was not fun. To do it right you have to take the dash apart to remove the Evaporator unless you plan to leave the lines sticking out of the firewall (which looks like crap IMO).
