Question 98 Blazer 2WD 4.3L DOHC: Starting issues, electrical

I have never seen a car do this in my entire life.

So i got in my car to start it and turned the key. Dash lights and everything electrical came on, but no start. no clicking, just dead silent, but all electrical stuff works.

Now here is where it gets weird. I turned the key back and took it out, and all lights on the car began to blink: dash lights, turn signals, brake lights, the whole shebang, except for the dome light and the headlights. I had to press a lot of buttons and turn the ignition a bunch of times to finally trick the electronics into shutting down.

My guess is the ignition switch by the looks of it, but tell me what you guys think. I need all the help I can get.

My 2000 did that and it was the battery, same issues no start and interior lights and acc. going crazy. I thought ign. switch at first too. but I had a spare battery to swap out as a test and it fixed the problem.

The ignition switch is pretty easy to test given the information found in the applicable link from my signature below. You want to test the resistance across the wiring into/out of the ignition switch with it disconnected under the steering column. The wiring diagram shows the various switch/key positions and what contacts should close. The resistance should be very low for a good contact.

I ended up finding a lone toggle switch on the underside of the dash assembly right above the brake pedal....possibly some sort of killswitch from an old aftermarket alarm system? Anyways i flipped it a bunch and got the car to start normally, although now the switch can be in either position and the car starts...strange.
