98 Blazer 4x4 issues. Have read thru the 4x4 no worky thread.
I just fixed a fuel pump in my 4x4 blazer and now i have problems from the transfercase. The truck will not shift into 4 hi and only shifts into 4 lo if moving slowly and bumped into Neutral then switched to 4 low. The truck also sounds like its making tons of road noise that sounds like tire noise but is not.
Is the Tcase busted any ideas for things i could test? When i got the truck there was a vac line busted in half that I put back together. Was hoping that was all the issues it had.
Does this sound like an encoder motor issue or a TCCM?
Edit sounds an awful lot like an encoder error and possibly low t-case level for the noise.

I assume that you have the NV233 transfer case due to the lack of any mention of Auto4wd. There are other threads on the NV233 (OBD2 Non-Automatic Transfer Case Diagnosis to name one) in the Tech Article (DIY) section which will help further diagnose your problem.
But if you want more help from us, you'll need to provide some more details... What does it do when you press the 4HI button? Does the light just blink or does it not even make an attempt?

Sorry for the lack of information and thanks for your help. It is an automatic and when you press the 4 hi button it occasionally will make an attempt if its in 4lo and in neutral. In park it will attempt 4 lo and fail in neutral moving 1 mph or so it will shift into 4 lo.

After some reading it appears that the extremely loud noise I'm hearing isnt even in relation to the fact that the 4wd doesnt work. I suspect that it is a passenger side hub causing the noise at highway speeds.
