98 chevy blazer problems PLEASE HELP any help would be appreciated
ok heres the deal, it turns over wont start, the pump is running when this happens. it shuts off of me at times like when i come up to a stop light or in drive thru, sometimes it starts back fine other times it leaves me sit for a while. this problem started near the end of last summer, and as weird as this may sound when its cold outside it doesnt shut off on me and is still hard to start but in the summer and now that its starting to warm up shuts off frequently but is still hard to start...here is a list of parts i have already replaced....
fuel pump mass air flow sensor throttle body position sensor engine coolant temp sensor thermostat(it was stuck and over heating when all this started) distributor cap and rotor button fuel filter also i had the pressure of the pump tested and it was ok any info and help would be greatly appreciated |
Are there any codes stored in the PCM?
Do you notice the "security" light being on longer than normal or on when you are having trouble starting the truck? |
no codes, no check engine light nothing...i'm getting ready to do a fuel pressure test again
|
Hhmm, bad ICM or IAC, maybe?
|
turn key on = 58 psi
started and running = 54 psi turn key off and i lose pressure fast, approx 20 psi in 5 minutes, but right now it is starting, going to wait till it wont start to test pressure then |
Uh, oh. Sounds like the FPR is going south. Read this thread for diagnostic info.

thats kinda what i was leaning towards myself, do you have any diagrams showing how to change that??
and IF it were the pump would it run at all when it does not want to start? because when i am trying to start it, i can hear the pump kick on for a couple seconds like its supposed to but it doesnt start, and also when it shuts off on me i can hear the pump then kick off too |
