Default 99 Blazer alternater issue

Charge light came on cpl days ago...replaced battery with new, also new(rebuilt) alternater from Advance Auto Parts,,,,charge light coming on intermitantly, loss of volts when on, when off, it appears battery is being charged correctly. Anyone have any ideas why this is occuring? Thank you.

On 1998 and older, the ignition circuit feeds the voltage regulator which is inside the alternator. On 1999 and newer, the alternator is controlled by the PCM. Make sure they gave you the correct altrnator, they are not interchangeable.

There are 2 red wires on the alternator: The large one on the rear should show battery voltage at all times. The smaller one should show battery voltage when the engine is running. Check for a loose or poor connection.

EDIT:
The smaller red wire comes from Connector 3, pin #5 of the ECM. The larger red wire comes from a fuse holder to the right of the radiator, then through a fusable link, then to the alternator.
