Need help / wheel hub
I have a 99 Blazer 2wd, both wheel hub bearings have gone bad, these are the sealed units. I have ordered them and should be in tomorrow. Now to my problem I have the drivers side off but I can't seem to be able to get the hub to separate from the rotor. I have sprayed around with wd-40 Tapped, beat and cussed at it, I called a friend who is a mechanic and he said to hit the studs with a hammer. Well I did and the studs came out. Any help please.

Your on the right track. When I get the really stubborn ones, I put some heat on them with a torch. I've beat on some for over an hour to get them to move and that's with heat. If you do use heat, don't get carried away. you don't want to warp your rotor. I've had better luck with soaking things in PB Blaster than WD40. Good luck.

Skidud, PB Blaster thanks for the tip, I will get some. As I said I have worked on it for 2 hours and no luck.
Thanks for the reply.

wow if your rotors are rusted to the hubs your rotors must be pretty old. I'd beat on the rotor until it came off and get some new rotors to go along with the new hubs. I had no problem removing my rotors to replace the hubs and the cv axles

yea X2 on the PB blaster! Great Stuff! if you have knocked the studs out then all you can really do is beat on the rotor, may i sugest a sledge hammer?! i would spray as much PB as possible between the rotor and hub, which should be easy becasue you knocked the studs out. then beat on the rotor with a sledge, the part of the rotor that the rim touches when mounted to the vehicle. but if your rotors look thin or chewed up it may be time for rotors too.

Thanks for the reply's, Rotors are nice and shiny where the pads hit, no pits or rough places. These are the sealed hubs and they fit very tight in the rotor. Remember I live in Florida about two blocks from the beach. Sand, salt and eleven years old. Just trying to save a penny.
Thanks again pcbfish

I would say screw the old rotors. At the price of new ones versus the time and bloody knuckles of trying to save the ones you have, get new ones. Ive had rotors stuck on like this before. The best thing to do is get a friend with a compressor and an air hammer and go to town. Make sure to rotate the rotor every few seconds, and use the hammer from the inside of the rotor.
