Default 99 blazer fuel pump issues

Hello & thank you for reading.
Start of the saga.
First day my son has his licence he drives our shared blazer had has issue with it turning over but not starting. Finally get it to start and comes home. We go out and start turning it over with no start till we kill the battery. We can hear the fuel pump start when we turn the key. We also added 6 gallons of gas to .make sure there was gas since the gauge dose not read right. Charge battery, and start again. This time I pour a little gas down the intake and it starts right up. Runs a couple of seconds and stalls out. Do this several time with same results. Removed fuel filter, had a lot of trash in there. Put on new filter. Starts right up. Reves up with little white maybe grey exhaust smoke but goes away. We run it for 20 minutes. Shut off and restart a few times. Next morning I try to take it to the gas station. turns over but no start. We pull filter back off , no trash in it like before. Put back on and again starts right up. I run up the road a ways come back leave it idle. Some suggest putting some treatment in the gas so we did. Ran for 30 minutes. Come out hour later back to the turn over no start.
now I begin to read post on here to see if anyone else has this issue. Read how to check the pressure. Went & bought gauge and extra gas line.
the test begins;
test at service port done multiple times. Gauge gets to 50 psi and when key goes off it drops instantly.
test at the fuel filter;
Exactly the same. 50 psi and drops as soon as key goes off.
before I go pulling tank and change the fuel pump I wanted to see if the could be something else wrong. Vacuum hose or something ?
he starts school soon and only has to be there half days so having away home would be nice. Thank you for any help or advice

50psi is way too low for a dead-head pressure test at the fuel filter. Should be closer to 90psi or more. And it definitely doesn't bode well for the pressure to drop immediately which is an indication of either a broken line or a failed check valve; both of which would be in the fuel pump assembly.

Thank you. Is there anything I should look for or do while we have the tank off?

Buy either a Delphi or AC Delco fuel pump or it may not last. I have 100,000 miles on my Delphi pump. The warranty replacement without free labor will sting pretty good if you have bad luck with say an Airtex

I believe i'm having a fuel pump issue too. Quick question, my blazer is a 2 door. IS the fuel pump assembly different for a 2 door vs a 4 door?

There is a difference between 2 & 4 door.
after reading all the other post I went with a.c. delco.

So after 4 1/2 hour's we got new pump in. Test at fuel filter was 92psi. At service port over 60 psi. Battery to drained to start truck. Put on the charger now waiting for that to make sure it starts.
