Default 99 Blazer - Quad Headlight Mod & DRL delete

Thought I'd ask the question about my efforts to convert to quad headlights and turn off my DRLs. My DRLs are my high beams. I don't want to disable my auto head lights by adding a resistor. I'd like to keep that function.

So, I added the ground wire to the to the yellow wire on the drivers side harness for the quad headlight setup. It worked great, I have quad headlights when I switch to high beams. Then, I bent the relay terminal #86 so that it would not connect to disable the DRLs.

Results: I have the quad headlights no problem. But, now my DRLs are my low beam headlights. Haven't seen this result in any of the posts I read.

Any way to get the the DRLs to completely shut off?

Grounding the wire behind the driver side headlight will result in the low beams being on all of the time. I thought I had noted this in the thread I had discussing this mod when I had done it many years ago on my '00 Bravada.

If it helps, attached below is the electrical schematic for your 1999:

You will need to do a wholesale rewire of the headlight system to get around this. I thought I had worked it out way back when, but I could not find a marked up schematic with the necessary changes. I wish I had the time to work through it again, but I do not.

You could always use a relay to use the high beams to trigger the low beams.
