whats happen, i was wondering if anybody here could help me with my brake prob. vehicle is a 95 balzer 4x4 with 4WAL brake system

a few weeks ago i had my abs light come on and stay on after hitting the brakes pretty hard to get off the highway and geton to arest area ramp.

light came on after resarting the blazer (normal), then went out for one second, and then came back on and has not went out since

pulled the battery cable-light came backon immediately
pulled the abs fuse-light came back on immedaiately

finally took it to a "brake" shop and they pulled a code about the control valves not operating properly (code c 1252)

they told me it would cost arround 1200 parts and labor

just wondering if anybody has anymore info on this specific problem or the possibility/hassle of getting a junkyard control unit and swapping them myself ?

i am pretty mechanically skilled but have never messed with abs before any help would be very much appreciated

I'd help if I knew anything about it but, sorry I have no idea about ABS stuff. All I know is mine comes on under heavy general braking for no reason sometimes, and sounds like its spazzing out when it does need to work in the snow and what not. I just don't trust it.

However, your truck isn't truly OBD2 so I don't know how true this code is... Especially since this is one of the early generation ABS control units. I wish I could be more specific...

One thing that seems to be reoccurring in my references is the possibility of corroded connections. Maybe try pulling the connector off of the ABS pump and cleaning it.

Besides that, more often than not the only option is to replace the pump if you want to retain your ABS functions.

sorry about the delay i have been swamped at work (been driving the bike and crx instead)

whats the best solution to clean the electrical conections you described?

also i have found a couple junk yard blazers with what appear to be the same abs control unit. are they hard to swap and are they all interchangable or do i need a certain year/ model

 

i still have not fixed this problem, however after searching this site some more i came across module master and have contacted them to see if they can be of service to me. i'll update how things go. i hope they can fix it for arround $150 instead of the dealers $1,000!

 

That's where I sent my ABS module and since then I haven't had any problems with it. What I don't get, is how can a company like Modulemaster can fix the problem with USD150 in less than 2 days (it took longer to send & receivethe dam thing from Greece), and the local dealership has to quote you a new part.
