Default AC clutch start/stop problem (fix)

Having trouble with the AC starting and stopping during idle.
It would kick on and off like it was low on freon but would work fine at higher RPM's

After checking the pressure and seeing it was fine, I could tap the clutch and it would kick on for a bit and stop working again.

This point I figure the clutch is bad.

I took some rags and covered the lower pully's and belt and sprayed the compressor clutch down wit some PB Blaster lunricant.

After it all the lubricant dripped out I started the engine and the AC works perfectly now.

I do have leak as the leak detector fluid shows up under the compressor.
I do plan on having the compressor replaced. Anyone know the estimated cost of having this done?

WOW. Do you spray blaster on the clutch between the engine and transmission too? This is an incorrect procedure. clutches operate by friction.

There are multiple reasons a compressor will short-cycle. I bet the clutch is fine. If you have low head pressure, you will have low evap pressure. Chances are the low pressure switch was cycling the compressor on and off just like it is designed to do.

Incorrect or not, it solved the problem.
