Default ac comoressor clutch

I have searched so I apologize if I am double posting.

I have a 96 blazer and a/c was charged. But the a/c clutch seems to be stuck. It moves a bit and then the belt starts to smoke . (The very front on the compressor near the fan). I have been spraying where the Gap is and the very front with wd40.

Is there any there way to loosen up the clutch?

Thank you

It doesn't sound like the clutch is your problem. If the clutch spins freely until it engages, then it sounds like the compressor itself is locked up and in need of replacement.

It sounds like it should be replaced but that requires a special tool. I believe autozone has the tool for rent. You just pay a deposit then get it back when you bring the tool back.

It looks like the clutch moves just a bit an stops then the belt smokes.

If the clutch moves freely on the shaft then stops it's probably the clutch. If the shaft turns with it & then stops it's probably the compressor stuck.

OK, so after WD40 ing it I tried the ac on max. I don't get the clutch to move at all now .

I was think of going to Autozone and getting R134 and dye. I assume there will be no movement from the clutch is the freon is low. Since it was charged yesterday .

Any thought of what the troubleshooting steps to completely diagnose this would be, please tell me. I don't want this to go to the shop for 1000 bucks.

Thank you very much for your help

With the engine off and cooled down you should be able to grab the clutch and turn it by hand if not then Stwartlkk is right the compressor is stuck and needs to be replaced,

If it does turn then the clutch is worn and needs to be replaced,
But I`m +1 with Stwartlkk your compressor sounds like it is seized

Ok I tried to move it and I could not.

Also now when I turn on A.C to max the clutch don't even try..

So The compressor is bad .

1> Should I put the 134 in it with the dye to check for a leak? OR assume only the compressor is bad?

If everything is fine until you turn on ac, the compressor is definitely locked up and it's a big fix job because your system is full of debris.
When clutch/pulley bearing is bad, the problem is obvious anytime engine is running
Sorry.. but no way to put it gently.

Good luck with finding the best shop.
