Default Where to buy a fuel pump?

My fuel pump is starting to make a lot of noise, which you can hear over road noise at freeway speed. Yesterday, I momentarily lost the ability to accelerate a couple times on the way home, though the engine didn't stall. I replaced the fuel filter this afternoon, and the drainage was a lot dirtier than normal. I was hoping that maybe the fuel filter was clogged up a bit.

The fuel pump is still loud, but it comes and goes. I'm not sure if this is a sign that the fuel pump is about to die. The other times I've had fuel pumps go, they just up and died, without warning. I'm thinking of replacing it if for no other reason than peace of mind. I have no idea when, if ever, it's been replaced.

GM Parts Direct lists several different items, including a "Fuel pump, all models... w/ pickup" and "w/o pickup" for about $275 and also a "Fuel pump - 1992-99 2 door - 1992-99 2 door " for $78.85. I'm not sure what the differences are, if any. (For 1998 4WD 2DR LS.)

The local Autozone has a pump for $339.00, which sounds a bit steep. I don't recall the brand name.

Where should I get a fuel pump? Are any manufacturers preferred for this part?

I drive 98 2dr 4x4, I did alot of research in buyin my fuel pump just recently and found that you can find good deals on used fuel pumps but you definetly dont want to do that if at all possible. And online there were too good to be true deals on there b/c they will sell you the pump but without the wiring harness in which is completly diferent on the new pump as compared to the old one. The best thing to do is bite the bullet and get the Master brand one for 339 at auto zone I found. Its at least made in america unlike the majority of parts. If you do decide to go the online route watch out for the difference between 2dr and 4dr b/c there is a difference

Master brand...? $339??? Why spend that kind of money for an aftermarket unit when you can buy a genuine AC Delco for cheaper or the same depending on 2dr/4dr (rockauto.com)... I'd rather have an AC Delco... If you have an AC Delco retailer close by (check ACDelco.com), you should be able to get it for the same price as RockAuto.com locally.

MU85 is the AC Delco PN for the 4dr and MU112 is for the 2dr.
